This is an N scale 3X6 foot layout I call The Great Gorge & Northern which is designed for running freight and passenger operations. It is based on an old Atlas HO track plan called The Granite Gorge & Northern. This plan has two added reverse loops allowing for train travel in either direction and back. You can also run two independent trains at the same time. The setting is sort of an outer city heavy industrial location separated by a busy shipping canal. Each upper level end sections are removable dioramas. This allows you to add fine details at the comfort of your work bench. You could also create multiple dioramas for things like changing era?s etc. This layout can be built with your choice of Kato Unitrack or Atlas code 80 track and remote turnouts wired for either DCC or DC blocks.
